Six months into their cooperation agreement, the BC NDP and BC Green Party are reporting tangible progress on shared priorities. A recent update highlighted that work is underway to review the province’s primary healthcare system and to establish Community Health Centres in every riding. On the housing front, more than 3,180 of the promised 7,500 units of non-market housing per year are already completed or in progress.
The agreement enables the Green Party’s two MLAs to support the NDP in confidence votes, providing stability to the minority government. In return, the Greens are seeing movement in areas like transit, climate, social justice, and electoral reform. Deputy Premier and Attorney General Niki Sharma emphasized that the partnership has been upheld in good faith.
As the province heads toward the fall sitting, both parties say they are committed to maintaining momentum on shared goals and avoiding surprises in governance.
